Urgent Care Needed for Sweet Maisie

Maisie has not been able to keep anything down since very early yesterday morning, before I even woke up apparently because I woke up to a few messes to clean up. She ate breakfast but couldn’t keep that down. She tries to drink but that doesn’t stay down either. Then it progressed to me seeing the tiniest little specks of blood (or bloody tissue?) in the bile she was vomiting up. Couldn’t get in to regular vet until tomorrow but they suggested ER vet in the meantime. ER Dr gave her fluids and an anti nausea shot. X-rays alone would be $700 plus bloodwork and because she’s being a spicy girl they’d need to sedate her a little to accomplish that. So I opted to do just the fluids and anti nausea meds to hold her over till our appointment tomorrow (now today Jan 3) at her regular vet. They said her issue could be from a number of things really but without the diagnostics it’s hard to say (pancreatitis, IBD, something viral, something liver or endocrine related, etc). They recommended an ultrasound but their ultrasound tech isn’t here for a couple of days. She’s on a wellness plan with her regular vet so her Dr visit itself here today is covered at least.

We’re at her regular vet right now and while she didn’t vomit during the night thanks to the Cerenia, she has no desire to eat or drink today and is lethargic and dehydrated (despite getting fluids last night). Her vet can tell she is not her normal spicy self at all, she legit just plopped herself into my arms on the exam table which is NOT her norm. My girl is sad and not well. ☹️

They have her in the back right now to do xrays and labs. It could be pancreatitis, a foreign body, a weird allergy, they really don’t know yet. Diagnostics and hospitalization is $1892 and then treatment costs will be additional on top of that once they have an idea what’s going on with her. ER vet last night was $400 so altogether right now it’s a minimum of $2292 which is what I set the goal to (which may or may not change once we have a treatment plan).

I have no savings, was laid off from a tech job in 2023 and currently have a very small income each month from the work I currently do. I absolutely do not like asking for help but am happy to help others whenever I can. I just want Maisie to be ok. Any help at all you can spare is so appreciated.

Update 1: they’ve ruled out pancreatitis. X-ray shows thickening of her intestines which could be IBD or something like cancer. It’s hard to say. They have an ultrasound schedule this afternoon for her to get a better look at things and have her hospitalized on IV fluids in the meantime. She’s horribly dehydrated and apparently her heart is teeny tiny (they said dehydration can shrink the heart size?). Her albumin is low which could indicate liver or kidney issue but liver and kidney numbers look ok so they want to also do a urinalysis (not exactly easy on a dehydrated kitty).
