Urgent Care Needed for Sweet Katie's Recovery

My name is Christy and I am fundraising for my dog Katie. I adopted her from a local rescue when she was about 8 months old. She is now only 7, even though her grey face makes her look older. She started having problems walking early this summer and after weeks of diagnosis, I learned that she had a spinal tumor - a spinal meningioma. She had an MRI and neurosurgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible in late July. She recovered well initially and then began to struggle again. She recently had another MRI and significant tumor remains in her spine. She needs radiation to help her recover. Without radiation, she probably only has a couple of months to live. Katie does have pet insurance, but it only covers a part of the bills and I do not yet have confirmation of how much it will cover for radiation expenses. Her vet told me that her total expenses will likely be $10,000 or more. I have paid what insurance didn’t cover for all of her testing, surgery, and hospital stays so far. This has drained my rainy day fund. I also learned today that I may be without pay starting tomorrow because of discrimination against me at work for having a “hidden disability” which involves my vision and brain. I can and will find a new job if necessary to cover our living expenses, but this will take some time. Katie does not have much time.

Katie has her initial appointment set up for radiation on October 14th and I would really like to be able to find the money needed to keep that appointment. Her tumor has the chance to grow, compress her spine more, and cause more damage each day. The other appointments are the following week. All money raised will go towards Katie’s bills and gas to get her to radiation (about 200 miles each round trip). If there is any extra money after Katie’s bills are paid, it will go towards the rescue where I found Katie to help more dogs find homes.
