Urgent Care Needed for Rescued Rabbit

on 9/7/2024 my neighbors and I found a stray rabbit 2 houses down from us. My friend and I were able to grab her and bring her in.

Unfortunately , by then she was suffering from heat stroke. We quickly did everything we could safely and got her temp down but she maintained a high heart rate , we assumed due to stress.

the next day she was eating & playing so we thought she was fine however yesterday she took a turn for the worse. Rabbits heart rate is supposed to be 30-60BPM - hers was over 200 by the time we got her to the emergency Clinic.

they did an ultrasound and X-ray & found 3-5 B lines in her lungs and fluid around them. They were able to give her medications that seemed to help her at the time.

now today she’s back to a high heart rate. She’s way less active (super concerning) but still eating and drinking with occasional play time but mostly laying down showing some concerning signs.

I need to take her to an Exotic specialists vet asap however due to the amount of testing they have to do (especially since we don’t know her history) it’s quoted very high and they won’t even see me if I can’t pay the down payment which varies per clinic & what issues they feel they need to test for.

im trying really hard not to have to surrender her. Due to still not knowing her age it’s highly likely they will put her down. The ER even heavily suggested putting her down since I couldn’t afford to take her to a clinic right now.

I promise I can afford her care soon however with such an unexpected rescue, getting together an enclosure & food, the ER, etc it’s put me in a tough spot. I don’t want her to have to get put down just because I can’t afford a visit asap. What’s crazy is it could be something as simple as an infection so I’d hate to even humor the idea of euthanasia for her.

*was told by rabbit rescue to up the goal as her care may be costly at first
