Here we go again.....
Another rescue, taken in without hesitation.
Let me introduce you to Henry!
Formally known as "fugly"... which just about says it all really.....
I received a message from a friend, who said that there was a Mobile petting zoo at a local event and that the animals there were overheated, dehydrated and being mishandled. Not only that, being fed pizza and fries among other dangerous foods. (Salty foods can be FATAL to pigs!)
Henry was one of these animals, lying next to an emaciated piglet. Being dragged around like a stuffed animal. Lethargic. Scared.
The business owner tried to rehome Henry with my friend without any vetting. So without any hesitation my friend contacted me.
I roped in help from a seasoned rescuer to help get this baby away from them! We met at the location where this vile operation was happening. Witnessed Kids dragging the animals around, the animals were overheated and looked petrified. Reptiles and rodents being stored in rubber maids in 89* weather, without water dishes in the containers.
After listening to the 'business owner' spew absolute garbage and constantly belittling 'Henry', she agreed to give him to me, for $50.00. Zero questions asked. It was heartbreaking. We wanted to take every single one of these animals, gerbils, reptiles, bunnies, even a large tortoise that kept wandering off, likely trying to escape to a better life.
I cannot save them all. As many of you know- I had just rescued Mabel the pig. Thanks to so many of you, I have been able to cover her medical costs but now not only does Henry need medical attention and neutering, I HAVE to get their new enclosure completed. I was already pressed for time and material costs, but now it's imperative that I get this enclosure completed this month. So that after he recovers from surgery, they have a new, larger, safe enclosure to thrive in.
I cannot do this without your help. Mabel's Misfits (my rescue) is still in its early stages so any help you are able to offer is not only appreciated, but needed!
Henry is underweight, he has some physical abnormalities, likely due to starvation and malnutrition. He needs medical attention and to be neutered.
I cannot express the gratitude I have and the emotion I feel when my community gets together to help with these innocent babies.
Anything you can spare for Henry and the continued care of these animals is greatly appreciated.
