Urgent Care Needed for Piper's Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my names Cearey James & i’m setting this fundraiser up for my sister, Cora Patterson and her fur baby Piper for vet costs.

A little backstory, Cora got Piper in June of 2021. She was ran over as a puppy before my sister owned her and had her left front leg amputated. Since then, Piper has been the healthiest & happiest girl. Around September 15th Cora started to notice Piper acting strangely. She was very weak, and most of the time would collapse to the ground when trying to get up. She wasn’t eating or drinking, and couldn’t use the restroom without falling over. She brought Piper to the same Vet she’s always been to & the one who amputated her leg to see what was going on, on September 16th. They charged $600 to let her know that Piper was dehydrated & low on protein. They sent her home with medicine for diarrhea & canned food. That was all. On September 20th my sister knew something still wasn’t right and she wasn’t seeing any change in Piper. She brought her to a second vet that day to get another opinion, this vet was a lot more helpful. She noticed her white blood cell count was abnormally high, indicating that Pipers body was attempting to fight some sort of infection off. Unsure of what infection she was dealing with, they prescribed Piper Doxycycline, Vetprofen, & Gabapentin. Within the first two days my sister saw a drastic improvement in Piper. Her legs were working again & she was back to being her happy self & full of personality. A few days ago my sister noticed Piper started to breathe very weirdly. This morning, she brought her back to the second vet they went to. She got a call from that vet around lunch time today that Piper was considered to be in critical care & that this was very, very serious. They did chest xrays on Piper and found that something abnormal had been spread completely throughout her lungs. They then advised Cora that this was out of their hands and Piper would need treatment and more diagnostics at Medvet. My sister rushed to get Piper and brought her straight to Medvet. There they found out that Piper had a very serious fungal infection that has spread quickly & fully through her lungs, making it hard for her to breathe. Piper will have to stay there for 3-4 days. Her survival chance is 80% which is great, as long as her body responds to the treatment. They’re also hoping this infection has not spread to her brain or her eyes because that will decrease the chance of survival drastically. They will be doing treatment for the next 3-4 days there with Piper, but this will cost $5-7k & even after Piper gets released from Medvet, she will be on medications for months. Anything will help out & if you aren’t able to donate, all we ask is that you please continue to pray for Piper. Thank you
