Urgent Care Needed for Jamie's Miracle Foal
Donation protected
On February 20th 2025 Jamie’s heart horse Image had been up and down in labor all morning without progression. When the vet finally came out the prognosis dystocia. Vet palpated and could only feel shoulders.
At the time Jamie was unable to pay for an emergency c-section and vet had already mentioned foals heart rate was slowing down so jamie called a friend to come out and put the mare down away from her sight so she didn’t have to watch the loss of her beloved mare.
Once the friend arrived she discussed a post mortem c-section to see if the foal would 1. Be alive and 2. If not alive at least what color /gender she would have. Both agreed “what do we have to lose?”
once the mare was ethically euthanized (non chemical euthanasia ) then was cut open and this foal came sliding out and MOVING!
HE WAS ALIVE!
Under vet supervision at home this colt stood and drank colostrum for 20 hours. Both from what was pulled from his mother and frozen that was donated.
The vet who gave suggestion and supervision originally was from a vet facility not a private local practice!
Goats milk and mares match were donated and Jamie had another friend who donated a mare to use as a nurse mare (the bay mare in the photos)
Now this colt is over 2 weeks old and just moved closer to home in Auburn. As he got to his new home everything seemed fine. Until yesterday March 11th when he turned lethargic, limping on his hind left leg, and vet found puss coming from his navel. Bloodwork has come back and he has high markers for inflammatory response and the veterinary center is no longer accepting payment and are asking for full payment before they with help further.
Jamie hasn’t publicly wanted to ask for help but at this time she said she will do anything to save him and is asking for any help she can from the community. Although she tries hard not to have to depend on others for support sometimes hard times come and we need to ask for assistance .
anything helps❤️
