Urgent Care Needed for Gib Newell's Healing
Donation protected
My brother is Frank (Gib) Newell. Besides being my older brother, he is a husband, father of three grown children, grandfather to a grandson, and a friend to many. Gib has never met a stranger and has gone out of his way to help many people (both on a personal and professional level) over many years. He has struggled with health issues for many of the same years. He is a diabetic and has struggled with weight issues. He caught the Covid virus and then unexpectedly lost his job. He has had wounds on his foot and legs that have not healed. He has died and come back to life. He suffers from Congestive Heart failure. He is now on medical disability. The one thing Gib has never lost is his faith in God and his will to live. He has been in and out of hospitals, skilled nursing homes, and rehab centers over the last 4 years. His insurance will not allow him to go to the Kindred Hospital in Dallas, Texas. This is a hospital that works directly with complex wound care. The plan is for 30 days, where they provide robust and complex wound care while monitoring his overall health condition. They provide access to hyperbaric O2 treatments and other medical procedures that his insurance has not allowed in the past. It is the hope that they can put him on a path to recovery. Until the wounds heal and the infections are gone, he cannot have surgery to install a pacemaker. Doctors believe that this will help give find a path to recovery. Without this assistance, the only option is to amputate his right leg below the knee. This surgery is very risky for Gib due to his condition. His family and friends believe it is the "BEST HOPE" for Gib to recover and live out his life in his home with his family.
The last 5 years for Gib have been tough. Gib has been in a wheelchair while battling this at home. The loss of his ability to earn a living and not being able to assist in the financial care of himself and his family have been difficult at best. Throughout all of this, his faith and his determination to "not let the wheelchair" define his life have pushed him to persevere and keep his faith and hope. We need the help of friends, former business associates, clients, customers, benefactors, and guardian angels to assist his family in obtaining this critical medical help for Gib as soon as possible.
