Update:
It is with broken hearts that we are updating this to share that Bentley passed away during his emergency surgery. The surgeons discovered that his intestines were twisted and his body was simply not capable of surviving the trauma of the procedure. He went into cardiac arrest and the veterinary team performed CPR to try to bring him back. We eventually gave the veterinarian permission to stop CPR because we trusted that Bentley was telling us it was his time to go. We are devastated by this loss but we are deeply grateful for the support and prayers we have received. Even though Bentley did not make it we are still facing a final medical bill of $7,000 for the critical emergency care and surgery he received. We are keeping this page open to help cover these remaining veterinary costs. Thank you again for your kindness during this incredibly difficult time.

Bentley is our 3-year-old German Shepherd and a beloved member of our family. He has always been healthy, active, and full of life. On December 11, Bentley underwent what was supposed to be a routine neuter surgery. His recovery initially appeared to be going well.

Early this morning, everything changed when we woke up to Bentley vomiting a large amount of blood. We immediately rushed him to emergency veterinary care and are now at a second emergency hospital. After extensive evaluation, Bentley was diagnosed with a severe gastrointestinal bleed, believed to be a reaction to the pain medication prescribed for his post-operative recovery.

Bentley’s condition deteriorated quickly, and he now requires emergent abdominal surgery along with intensive post-operative care to save his life. The initial estimate for surgery and immediate post-operative hospitalization is approximately $20,000. Unfortunately, this amount is expected to increase depending on the length of his ICU stay, the need for additional medications, blood transfusions, imaging, and ongoing monitoring.

Bentley is only 3 years old and has so much life left to live. He is deeply loved and brings endless joy to everyone who knows him. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward his life-saving care. If you are unable to donate, sharing Bentley’s story would mean just as much.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
