Urgent Care Needed for Bambi's Recovery
Donation protected
Bambi is currently in critical condition at Animal Medical Center. She was misdiagnosed with seizures back in April 2024 and had been prescribed seizure medication. One medication she started taking in November after being rushed to emergency due to “seizures” called phenobarbital caused a toxicity in her body that completely ruined her immune system and caused severe anemia. Her red blood cell count went from 20 to .8 and had extremely low platelets and white blood cell count. Her actual condition is called Paroxysmal dyskinesia, which is something she was born with. Unfortunately, she did not need any seizure medication, which is what caused the situation she currently is in.
She was rushed to the Animal Medical Center on Friday, January 17th, and required blood transfusions and several tests. She has had a high fever due to infection, and doctors are currently trying to prevent sepsis, an infection that can lead to death. Her vet bill is currently at $15,000 and has a possibility of going up if she does not get better. The medication she requires is $500 per dose for one and $600 per dose for another and will be required for a minimum of 4 doses. We hope to see some change in her soon and provide her with any medication/tests required to get her back home.
