I'm Rio, or you may know me as Tom, and live with my partner Jayson and our two cats, Goose and Guinness; who unfortunately have come into some significant and unexpected medical expenses recently.
Guinness stopped eating, and we had to take her to an emergency vet-- coming away with a thousand dollar bill, a couple days of anti-nausea medication, and not many answers. As of bringing her home, we still haven't gotten her to eat more than a couple mouthfuls of food, and now her sister is having the same issues.
We're both chronically ill, physically and mentally, and I'm unable to work at all, living in an extremely high cost-of-living area. It's been a struggle to even afford groceries lately, let alone over a grand in expenses and more to come as we try to follow up with another vet to treat her and pray that Goose doesn't also end up in the ER. We had to apply for a credit card just to get her sister treated, and the limit isn't high enough for her to get the same treatment.
They're both registered ESAs and have been absolutely vital to us staying alive through the past six years. We've been treading water financially for so long, and I don't know how much more blood we can get from this stone. It's a cliche turn of phrase, but genuinely, anything helps. Even five bucks can cover a can of prescription food.
I just want them to be okay.
