Star Anise is a ten year old stray who requires immediate, life saving measures. She is in severe pain due to Pyrothorax, a bacterial infection in the chest cavity. . The vet believes that this was the result of a bite wound that punctured her chest wall, ruptured, and abscessed into the chest cavity. This sweet little girl weighs 4 and a half pounds and had 48 mls of pus drained from her chest today. If she is to survive, she must have a thoracostomy tube placed to flush and clean her chest cavity and remove pus as it re-accumulates.  This can only be done at a round the clock, specialty center.
