Urgent Care for Spoons' Health Crisis
Donation protected
Hello I'm Dann, the owner of Spoons. Spoons was a rescue I adopted him January of 2024. He came into the shelter because his family surrendered him because he was FIV+. My partner and I agreed when we took him home we will fight to ensure he has a long lasting and healthy life. Genetics have played a role in causing him urinary distress however. On May 11, 2025 we took him to an emergency vet where it was determined he needed surgery to relieve the blockage and hospitalization. That visit was $1,700. We took him for hospitalization at his primary vet and was quoted $1,060 for 3 days and nights and now they're recommending another 3 days and nights. He also is at risk of developing necrosis of his penis, and if that happens it would result in a Perineal Urethrostomy which would be about $4,000-$5,000. Spoons is my partners best friend, he brings joy to everyone that meets him, he doesn't deserve to die because he can't pee.
