Hi everyone, my name is Kayla, and I’m reaching out for a little help during an unexpected and stressful time.
My sweet cat Rengar recently developed some concerning health issues. On Friday, July 18th, I noticed that his pupils were dramatically different in size. After calling around to several clinics, I rushed him to the emergency vet. He was initially diagnosed with an eye infection and sent home with drops.
Unfortunately, after the weekend, there was little to no improvement. I took him to his regular vet for further testing. After a blood draw and thorough examination, we learned that Rengar actually has a middle ear infection, which is affecting his eye and causing his third eyelid to become more visible. Middle ear infections can trigger the nerves and cause for his nictitating membrane (third eyelid) to be more prominent.
So far, his emergency visit cost about $400, and the follow-up was nearly $600. This is not including medications or any potential visits to a specialist if his condition doesn’t improve soon. His vet advised that if this does not clear up within 2 weeks, we would need to visit a specialist which could be upwards of $500.
Many of you know I recently moved to Issaquah to be the primary caregiver for my husband. With everything going on, these unexpected vet bills have been overwhelming. I’m hoping to raise around $1,000 to help cover Rengar’s treatment.
Any amount you’re able to contribute would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for reading, sharing, and supporting, we’re incredibly grateful.
With love,
Kayla & Rengar
