Urgent Care for Radar: Lisa's Loyal Companion
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, Lisa, whose beloved German
Shepherd, Radar, is currently fighting a severe case of pancreatitis. Radar means the world
to Lisa and her family, and they urgently need help to cover the cost of his past and ongoing
care. The goal is to raise $5,000 to help pay for veterinary visits, medications, SubQ fluids,
diagnostic tests like x-rays, prescription food, and supplements that are now essential to his
recovery.
Radar’s Story
Radar is a beautiful black German Shepherd with a heart just as strong as his journey. He
was rescued from Tennessee at just 4 months old after being part of a heartbreaking law
enforcement case where many dogs were found deceased on the property. When he was
brought to safety in Rochester, NY, Radar didn’t even know what grass was. But from those
grim beginnings, his life began to change.
A kind woman adopted him and worked with him until he became a well-rounded, loving
boy. But as Radar grew, his energy became too much for her to manage. That’s when Lisa
stepped in. She hadn’t been looking for a third dog—but when she met Radar, it was love at
first sight.
Two years later, Radar is a devoted companion, living his best life on a small farm
surrounded by horses, goats, chickens, cats, and kids. He is Lisa’s shadow—her “velcro
dog”—and truly one of the best things to ever happen to her.
A Year of Unimaginable Loss
Lisa has endured more heartache in the last year than many face in a lifetime.
It started with the loss of her grandmother. Not long after, her beloved horse Orie suffered a
severe bout of colic. By 10 a.m., he was fine—by 4 p.m., Lisa had to make the impossible
decision to euthanize him due to suspected bowel torsion, as Cornell wasn’t an option and
the vet confirmed he would not survive the night.
Then came the most devastating loss—Lisa’s 22-month-old grandson, Dior, drowned in a
bathtub while in the care of a babysitter. He spent three days on life support before being
taken off. The heartbreak is indescribable.
As Lisa and her family tried to navigate that grief, her dog Gemma suddenly fell ill. Within a
week and a half, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and passed away in their home on
Super Bowl Sunday. The vet bills and cremation costs from Gemma’s passing still linger.
And now, Radar is sick.
Radar’s Fight to Recover
A couple of weeks ago, Radar began vomiting and quickly became worse. Lisa rushed him to
the vet, where he was diagnosed with a severe case of pancreatitis. Since then, he’s
undergone multiple vet visits, x-rays, blood tests, anti-nausea medication, SubQ fluids, and
is now on a strict prescription diet and supplements.
But despite two weeks of supportive care, his recovery has been slow. The vet has said it
could be weeks before Radar begins to feel better, and his treatment plan is still evolving
depending on how he responds.
To make things even more difficult—Lisa and her fiancé both lost their jobs within 48 hours
of each other. Their income dropped to zero almost overnight.
Radar has been Lisa’s rock through every loss. He’s not “just a dog”—he’s a companion who
has given her strength through her darkest days. The thought of losing him now, simply
because of financial strain, is unbearable.
How You Can Help
This fundraiser will help cover:
- Past and ongoing veterinary bills
- Medications and anti-nausea support
- Subcutaneous fluids
- X-rays and diagnostics
- Prescription food and vital digestive supplements
Radar’s recovery is still uncertain. The vet has explained that his condition may require
additional tests, more medication, or even hospitalization if he worsens. These funds will
ensure Radar gets every chance possible to heal.
If you are in a position to donate—no matter how small—please know that it makes a real
difference. Even $10 helps lift a burden during this difficult time. If you’re not able to give,
please consider sharing this with others who might want to help.
Radar gave Lisa comfort, stability, and hope when she needed it most. Let’s come together
now and do the same for him.
Thank you so much for reading and for your compassion.
