Urgent Care for Scarlett’s Rostral mandibulectomy
Donation protected

My 10-year-old chihuahua was attacked by a bigger dog. Her jaw is severely injured and she is now being taken care of by her veterinarians. An update was given, that she currently is having X-rays done, but from the look of it, The vet stated she is suffering a broken jaw on each ends and due to the puncture wound also being infected, an amputation of the fractured parts is what’s needed to ensure the best recovery for both her jaw and now infected puncture wound. The X-rays show that Her bottom jaw, by her front teeth was severely crushed, leaving a stint procedure out of the picture due to all the bone fragments that wouldn’t be able to be stabilized & also due to where exactly the fracture is in the jaw bone, significantly crushed bone fragments, lay all between her front teeth which was explained to me that no screws, or metal plates can stabilize that area due to there being almost no bone to work with. She is currently on antibiotics, she has had blood work done, and anesthesia as well. She will be in the hospital until surgery.
. A procedure done on dogs with cancer within the jaw has shown how well they can do with this type of surgery and how this is the best way possible for her. A Rostral mandibulectomy is a surgical procedure where part of the lower jawbone (mandible) is removed, specifically the rostral (front) portion. It's primarily used in animals, like dogs and horses, to treat tumors, fractures, or other conditions affecting the front of the jaw. The procedure can be unilateral (one side) or bilateral (both sides
With these unforeseen circumstances I’m asking for anything to help, a prayer is very appreciated, this is my healthy baby of 10 years. I hate to see my beloved pup in this pain.
