Please share and donate so we can reach our $7,000 goal!
Although Sunny did undergo her life-saving surgery, there is aftercare and supplies essential for her well-being and that is why it is so important that we reach our goal needed. We want her to be able to receive all of the care she needs until she’s completely healed.
Thank you!
*I’ve spent $1,600 plus the $5,000 on her leg surgery.

✨Community, I need your help.
Hello, my name is Zoe. MEET SUNNY, I saw a Facebook post about a sweet dog with electrical taped legs and her small puppies found at a homeless encampment in a wire cage, surrounded by absolute filth. After negotiations and pleading to relinquish them, we were finally able to save the family. What we originally thought was just tape turned into a nightmare. Both front legs of the mom dog are broken- they’re essentially double in size and swollen. She can’t physically walk so she pees and poops herself. It’s heartbreaking and I’m desperate. What I originally thought would be a spay and vaccines is now a medical emergency. She needs to see a vet first thing tomorrow. I got her at 8 pm on 4/25. So 4/26 she needs to be at a vet. She needs x-rays and casting immediately. (*she’s seen vet and now we need the funds to save her life) Absolutely anything helps. I will provide more information as soon as I can tomorrow with the quote and plan. (*quotes have been posted below) She’s been a wonderful mom but very much so in pain. She’s barely lactating to nurse her babies due to an extremely poor diet and stress. I can’t even imagine what’s happened to her. I need a plan. Her puppies, thankfully, are seemingly healthy and will also need essential medical care, but I'm most concerned with getting the mom's legs casted. It’s horrendous. Thank you so so so much to anyone who shares, donates and helps this sweet family heal. I can’t express this enough.

UPDATE 5/31 at 4pm-
Sunny is SHINING! It’s been almost 4 weeks since her surgery and it takes about 8-10 weeks to heal and get the casts removed. We are half way there! While in my care she’s been able to decompress and become dog and cat friendly- as well as really show her personality more. She’s so happy to be alive. She’s smart, quirky, energetic, house trained, and super cuddly soft. She will continue to be spoiled with so much love and hopefully by July we can find her a forever home- to show her the world isn’t such a bad place. She’s been through a lot. Sunny says ‘thank you, I’m so glad to be alive’.
More updates to come.

SUNNY IS IN SURGERY AS OF 5/9 at 12pm.
THANKS TO YOU ALL WE ARE SAVING HER LIFE!

UPDATE 5/9 8pm-
Sunny made it through surgery. She’s in recovery for 2 days at the hospital. I’ll pick her up Sunday!! Please lord let her heal and give her the strength to recover fully and be able to run again. I’m simply in amazement at the doctors and results. I’m in good hopes this will be a success and I’m so so so grateful for everyone who’s helped and encouraged Sunny’s progress. Miracles is all I can say..
More updates to come.

**We desperately need about $2000 more to cover everything so I’m leaving the GoFundMe open and hope that we can reach this goal. Thank you everyone so much. I will definitely post a picture of Sunny with her new legs as soon as I can!**

UPDATE 5/09-
After countless vet calls, multiple exams, and many estimates we were finally able to get Sunny in for surgery.
Sunny has been admitted to Kinder 4 Rescue Hospital in North Hollywood.
There she is undergoing surgery today on both her legs. We were able to get the vet to agree to $5,000. (*that is what we raised on here, but not including the $1600+ initially spent) We are leaving the fund open and the goal at $7,000 to cover all transport and additional vetting for recovery, food and supplies, and vetting for the puppies. We still need funds and anything helps cover that. Anything left over will directly help her babies and any other dogs we can get vetted at the encampment. There may not be much left over but it’s all absolutely needed and appreciated.
I will update once I know that Sunny has successfully made it out of surgery. Please keep her in your prayers today.

Update 5/03-
I just got home from another vet appointment and I’m going to keep this very short and to the point, I’m gutted. What seemed like some hope and options is more so this- I either gather the funds and get the surgery she needs to be mobile and have a quality of life she deserves or she doesn’t and suffers immensely. It is $5,000+ estimated for surgery and all vetting and aftercare needed. I’m forwarding pleas to anyone I can and any rescues I can. Im desperate for local surgeons and rescue groups to help or back Sunny. I’m at a wall with all of this and honestly it is very very draining emotionally. I feel absolutely helpless… if anyone has any leads or guidance I’d be forever grateful. Time is against Sunny.

UPDATE 5/02 4pm-
As promised, I wanted to give an update on the game plan and prognosis for Sunny. Upon speaking with the surgeon and looking over the x-rays, we were given a couple options. Option 1. Surgery on each leg with internal plates and screws as well as vetting and anesthesia would come out to be $2,500-$4,000 per leg. (And that would need to happen within the next week, before they naturally start to heal and fuse on their own). Being realistic, that’s a number pretty high to potentially raise in a week but I want to try. Option 2. Surgery on each leg with external rods and open wounds. A higher risk for infection and potentially more problematic surgery with a cheaper initial cost. Still about $2,000 plus per leg. Simply not an option. Option 3. No surgery, rather continuous vet visits and bracing the legs while they naturally heal. (We’ve now learned that unfortunately this option isn’t an option due to the severity of the break..)

The funds raised have gone straight towards her vetting so far. I’ve spent about $1,300+ so far, she will need continuous care, and for her babies vetting and care as well. This will be about a 3-4 month long process. A $7,000 goal has been set and is still realistically needed to cover all of this. Again, thank you everyone who has helped. I promised her ‘SHE WILL RUN FREE AGAIN SOON’. Without everyone’s help, that wouldn’t be possible. More updates to come.. TAIL WAGS.

UPDATE 4/27 2:20pm-
Sweet mom is on good pain meds and her legs are splinted until Thursday - when a surgeon can further address and diagnose a set game plan. I’ll know exact costs then. Her being clean, comfortable, fed, and safe were top priority. Now we face the beast.. I will know everything Thursday evening and update again more. I increased the goal to ensure we have the funds for anything needed, no stress. I am forever grateful to those who have shared and helped.
I have now named her Sunny as her spirits are shining so bright.

The staff added hearts to her leg bandages. Adorable!

UPDATE 4/26 3:25pm
The prognosis is pretty severe, but hopeful. I attached the x-ray and her legs are very much so broken. It’s a lot to absorb and I’ve been so emotionally drained, but the light of hope I have is how amazing this community is and all of the efforts to save her. She deserves it. The vet said she was an angel. Zero aggression and still wags her tail. She’s about 2-4 years old. She received rabies vaccine, pain meds, flea meds, dewormer (and the puppies too), brand new casts and wound care treatment. I attached the bill that I paid. I will return Thursday the 1st for another bandage change and to discuss surgery or a plan. I have no idea what I’m about to face but my goal is to remain fully transparent and keep everyone updated on her progress. She wants to thrive so so badly, and that’s exactly what she deserves. Again, my heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared or donated or sent healing energy her way: it's working! She’s feeling all of it.
More updates to come asap..

UPDATE 4/26
Thank you everyone. I’m at Newport Harbor Animal Hospital now (4/26 at 8am). Attached vet bill I’m paying for right now. Looking at $680 plus additional costs for future bandage changes, vaccines once her immune system is back up and essential puppy care once they reach age.. Will be getting X-ray done now and keep you updated on results of severity. This is going to be a journey. I’m forever grateful to everyone who is sharing and supporting saving this sweet family. I seriously can’t do this without your help. Please send all the healing energy this way..

*X-ray confirms mom’s legs are very much broken and we are getting a plan together for her care. I’m gutted. Thank you for all the encouragement and support. Please keep sharing, I couldn’t do this without you!

Sunny has the best hair. Don’t you agree?
