My name is Micayla, and I’ve created this GoFundMe campaign in support of my auntie, Yolanda. Every day, she dedicates herself to caring for Gozo’s sick and stray cats—feeding them in local colonies and nursing the most vulnerable back to health. This work often involves vet consultations, intensive care, and sometimes saving the lives of severely malnourished kitten groups. Right now, one precious kitten is in critical condition.

Unfortunately, the stray-cat crisis in Gozo and across Malta is growing each day. According to the Animal Welfare Directorate, more than 36,000 stray cats are fed and looked after by over 2,200 registered feeders across Malta and Gozo. Nationwide estimates suggest that the total number of stray cats may be as high as 350,000!

This means that caring individuals like Yolanda—feeding cats daily, paying for vet bills, and giving medical care—are stretched thin and in urgent need of financial support. Right now, the burden for rescuing and nurturing these animals is falling largely on their shoulders.

A message from Yolanda:

Stray kittens in need of help with medical bills, food and litter. These babies were found in a field severely underweight and with cat flu. One is in a critical condition and requires daily injections from the vet until he gains strength and weight. Please donate anything you can toward getting these babies better and save the life of the severely sick one. They too deserve a second chance. Thank you.
