I’m a proud grandma to my son’s service dog. My sweet granddog Dottie is a vivacious 5-month-old, 5-lb poodle who recently suffered a traumatic injury, breaking both of her front legs. The ulnas in each leg have clean breaks—these are the bones that carry most of her weight—and her other front leg bones also fractured in two places.
She is now undergoing emergency surgery in hopes of restoring her legs to a functional, pain-free state.
Dottie is full of life. She loves to run, hop, and play, using every ounce of her energy each day. She brings joy and happiness to everyone she meets, including her brothers, and we are hoping for a successful procedure and a smooth, rapid recovery so she can get back to doing all the things she loves.
On top of that, Dottie was just beginning her food allergy service dog training. With healing and determination, we’re hopeful she can resume her journey and fulfill her important role.
Thank you for keeping sweet Dottie in your thoughts and prayers as she begins this fight toward recovery.
