Hi everyone my name is Rashed and I’m a 24 year old university student studying to be a teacher. I am a Palestinian living in Ontario, Canada where I attend Queen’s University. For the last year I have been trying my best to support an amazing 12 year old girl who has been orphaned in Gaza. I have been doing so through the Islamic Relief Organization which works with communities all over the world to strengthen their resilience to calamities and provides vital emergency aid when disasters occur. The girl I have been trying to support is named Remas and she has experienced and continues to experience the hardest and most dangerous conditions. I want to tell you a bit about her and why her story is so important to me. She lost her father to the ongoing genocide in Gaza back in 2023 and currently lives with her family in North Gaza. She lives in a brick home with no gas supply, no electricity, no water supply, and no livestock. Her family struggles with the high cost of living and the inability to afford basic needs such as flour and vegetables. Remas’ favourite food is chicken but unfortunately the only readily available food for her to eat is bread. Her and her family are in urgent need of financial assistance and food packages. They also need mattresses, blankets, a battery for light, and a water tank. I am raising funds which will be given directly to Remas and her family through Islamic Relief so they can use it for food, water, power, and warmth this winter season. This innocent 12 year old girl likes to collect cuddly bears, likes to sight see, and likes to play with dolls. She is sociable, active, and cooperative, and she helps her mom with daily needs. She enjoys collecting beads and spends her time drawing and coloring. Her story is important to me because like me she wants to be a teacher. While her dream is beautiful I can’t help but feel heartbroken for her circumstances. On top of the terrible conditions she currently lives in she’s also currently not in school because of the destruction and genocide in Gaza. I want to support her as much as I can so that she can realize her dream one day and be a teacher. Everyday that passes is a day where she may never get to be a teacher so these funds are to help her survive this difficult time and become the teacher she dreams to be. No amount of words can express how important her cause is to me so I am asking you to help me support her. Unfortunately due to Islamic Relief’s policies I am not permitted to share any images of Remas publicly but please feel free to reach out to me if you are unsure that this is a trustworthy cause and I can provide proof that the funds are going directly to her. Please help me help Remas and her family get the things they need to survive and live a happy, safe, and fulfilled life. The funds collected will be donated to Remas through the Islamic Relief Canada website where an orphan gift will be made to her using her Orphan ID.
