I am a full-time pet sitter, which means I drive all over my city every day. Unfortunately, the transmission in my car is having issues and is currently undrivable. I am raising funds to cover repairs and the cost of the rental car I've been using since Friday June 26th.
WHY WE NEED SUPPORT
- As I mentioned, I'm a full time pet sitter. This includes clients who are currently gone for multiple months and whose pets rely on my daily care. Without my vehicle I would have to not only give up all of my income from all clients, but would also have to force out of state owners to find a new full-time pet sitter without being able to meet them, go over details, or make sure they are a good fit for the pet/owner & that they're comfortable with this person being in their home.
- My co-income earner and I share this vehicle. We are low-income and likely would not qualify for a new-used vehicle for monthly payments or in full.
- We don't have any savings as low income people, and neither of us can afford to not work.
- While I do have a dealership credit card for car repairs, it only has $1300/$3100 (55%) on it until it is fully maxed out which would destroy the remaining good credit I *do* have, and would go over the limit with interest included. The card also can't be used to help cover the rental car costs that have had to go on my credit card.
WHAT THE COSTS ARE
- So far the rental car has cost a $460 with a $300 deposit on top of that, which covers through Monday July 6th right now.
- I am dropping our car off at the mechanic Monday morning for the evaluation, but repairs won't start immediately obviously, so I will need the rental for at least one or two more days, but there is really no telling. It's about $40 a day, so minus the deposit the total for the car is going to be roughly $500 or so.
- I believe/hope that the issue is just the Transmission Control Module and not the transmission itself. Speaking with the shop last week, they gave me a rough pre-estimate of $1,300 for a new TCM and installation. *IF* it's just the TCM.
- The inspection is $169 by itself but I don't know yet if that will be rolled into the repair costs.
- (I will update the costs as things progress, and will upload proof of expenses once I have them in print)
- With the above we are likely going to be right around the $2000 mark (~$500+ rental, $169 inspection, $1300+ repair)
I know I've had to do some recent fundraising for emergency veterinary things so I really hate having to do this again, but I simply have no other choice. This car is just as much of an emergency because my entire life depends on being able to work and repairs are my only option.
Without the car, both my co-income earner and I will end up jobless, bankrupt, and homeless, and I'll have to get rid of the cats who are my entire world. It will crush me, and put all of my long-term clients in the worst position possible.
Please help us out if you can, in any way possible. I appreciate you all more than I can say.
