Urgent Car Repair for Struggling Artist & Organizer

Donation protected
Hey everyone,

I am an independent music artist, community organizer, director and producer girl San Francisco.

Not too long ago I had an emergency situation within my family, where I needed to take out loans to help them out and at this moment, I am unfortunately unable to take care of the cost of repairing my car that somebody hit and rear ended while a friend was driving. Because of the car being in my name, though my friend was on the insurance as well, I am legally responsible for the car and they have not been able to help me fixing it at all.

Without taking any responsibility, my friend returned my car to me not only damaged from the accident, but also without having maintained the car for what seems like the entire time they had it, which has been about a year now.

Last year when I let them drive my car, they agreed to maintain it while they had it, and I passed the car over with everything fully maintained & ready to go, new tires, good brakes, fluids filled, filters fresh, clean interior etc.

When they gave my car back to me; there was no oil, or fluids under the hood, the filters hadn’t been changed, the tires were bald, multiple lights were on the dash unrelated to the accident, the brakes were worn, the engine was dirty, and the inside of the car was so dirty with mud stains and a worn hole in the drivers side flooring beneath the pedals, as if it hadn’t been cleaned the entire time and I don’t know who else or how it had been driven.

Per the accident they got into, my insurance told me they would not be able to cover the cost of the repair and told me they would offer $2,000 if I returned the car to them (due to still having payments due) but I know that my car is repairable for around that same amount by taking it to another body shop. I had agreed to the insurance paying off a portion of my financed loan for the car in order to keep the car and repair it myself.

Now I’m stuck fixing my car for an accident that wasn’t my fault but due to trying to help my friend - trusting them with taking care of my car while they had been driving it, as they assured me they would, I have no other choice but to take responsibility in fixing what was not my fault, from their accident and their inability to properly maintain the car from their own wear and tear as they agreed they would.

I have unbearable debt, including making less than the amount of bills and debt I have to pay every month, and so I cannot afford the cost of fixing the car on my own but I chose to keep it because I do not have another car to drive and I need this car.

Rather than pressure my friend any more and expect him to even contribute anything, because I have already tried, respectfully, I’d like to ask for support to help me getting my car fixed so I don’t have to be in this situation and interact with them any longer.

Any support would be so appreciated. And I thank you for your time and reading this.

Your donation will go directly to the repair of my car and will allow me to have a safe car under my name to drive and use for my music career, my job and independent entrepreneur endeavors!
