Urgent Call for Support: H Helene Relief in Avery County

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Avery County and neighboring communities are facing urgent challenges as we work to recover from the devastating impact of the storm. With winter fast approaching, it’s essential that we come together to support those who are struggling during this difficult time.

As a part-time resident of Avery County whose family was brought here in the 1930s, I have deep roots in this community. I attended Avery Middle and Avery High School, and I feel a strong connection to the people and places that have shaped my life.

I am reaching out with a heartfelt plea: please find it in your heart to help where help is needed. Your monetary donations will enable us to acquire essential supplies for our community, including but not limited to:

Hygiene products: Toiletries, soap, and sanitary items to help families maintain their health and dignity.

Baby products: Diapers, formula, and baby wipes for our youngest community members.

Propane tanks and cooking apparatus: To assist families in preparing meals.

Generators: Vital for powering homes and keeping warm as temperatures drop.

Dehumidifiers: To help combat moisture and mold in damaged homes.

Warmth supplies: Blankets, space heaters, and warm clothing to protect against the winter chill.

Boots for our workers: Durable footwear to ensure they can safely assist with recovery efforts.

Please understand that this is a long haul and no easy task. Our community will likely be in need for the unforeseeable future, and every dollar you contribute will directly support our efforts to provide these critical supplies to those affected by the hurricane.
