The killer confessed and was never booked only spent 2 hours of questioning then let go. Malachi‘s family was silence for six months. Despite the fact his mother went on several platforms, begging for answers! The injustice in Douglas County as far too familiar to many families over the decades. After 6 months of silence they ultimately closed the case with zero charges and ruled self-defense. Yeah, authorities have never spoken with Malachi ‘s mother in regards to the so-called investigation that let them to close the case. Disheartening facts listed below.
After the shooting:
The individual involved drove away from behind my home with Malachi’s lifeless body
911 was never called
No immediate medical help was sought
The individual was never booked for murder
He spent about two hours in questioning and was released
Our family endured six months of silence
By month 7, the case was closed zero charges , self defense with no explanation. Only the drivers version of facts! Not even forensic or trajectory or blood, splatter consideration, or the location of where my son was shot was never told to me.
We have since filed a Writ of Mandamus due to being denied a Coroner Inquest 45-16-27 O.C.G.A. We also filed a federal civil rights lawsuit to demand accountability, transparency, and reform. We have had to fund everything just to gain answers authorities should have given and never did!
Funds raised support legal action, expert review, advocacy, relocation and efforts to prevent future families from facing the same injustice. We will continue to fight and would love support from our community, supporters and families who stand with us
Malachi’s life mattered.
The truth matters.
Justice should not be optional.
We thank you for your time and support
