In 2025, Lea fought sepsis for the second time in less than a year. Why was she septic? Her mother and the medical facility she lived in neglected her needs- medically and emotionally. Lea knows suffering. Lea is my Mom. She is medically complex with dementia adding to her daily confusion.

I went up against my family to gain guardianship of my mom which was granted while my mom was in the hospital in May 2025. Hallelujah!

However, my family lives in Maryland (*see update) while she lives in Idaho. We need to get her to this side of the country so I can make sure she receives the care she needs, and so she has her family around her again. I've been flying back and forth this entire year to be with her, but this is draining my family's savings. This is an emergency because the longer she's without an advocate in person, the greater the risk is of her not receiving the care she needs- even in the amazing facility I moved her to in Idaho. She deserves to live out the rest of her life with her kids and grandkids loving on her.

Lea has several surgeries coming up because of recurring infections, and moving her is imperative so I can be by her side.
