This is Betty. She's 10 almost 11 years old. Shes a Service Dog - retired diabetic alert. She's gentle, loyal, and she has saved my life twice in the last 8 years with very low blood sugar alerts in the middle of the night. Just a few days ago, everything changed. I took her for her lepto shot and had her heart checked (stage 3 mitral valve common in small dogs) at the vet. She's lost almost 5 pounds and they noticed one of her scissor teeth was loose. It also has a crack and a pocket under the tooth.
Betty needs that tooth pulled out asap and possibly another as well as a deep clean. She has stage 2 periodontal disease going to stage 3. It happened so fast (we had her teeth cleaned 2 years ago) Because she has the mitral valve condition they need to do a ProBNP blood test on her to see whats going on with the heart. The bloodwork alone is 287.29. Without surgery she will get a dangerous, life-threatening infection that will go into her jaw. The cost to do the extractions and cleaning is 1339.05 on top of bloodwork.
I've been unexpectedly off work for 5 months raising our 5 month old grandson and we are down to just hubby's income. He's floating us at the moment until I return to work. Its down to the wire and we just dont have funds.
I owe this dog my life, not once but twice. Im not going to let anything happen to her. She is a part of our family and we’re asking for your help. If you can donate even a few dollars, it could be the reason she gets thru this. And if you can’t, please share her story.
It's difficult times for everyone we know! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ❤️
