Can you help the horses this winter? Believe Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for abused, neglected, and/or abandoned equines. We are thankful for those in our community who value the lives of these animals and chose to advocate for their well-being. We can not do this alone!
Winter months are exceptionally hard on horse rescues. The recent heavy rains have wiped out a large chunk of our fencing and flooded pastures. We are currently seeking donations to help replace damaged fencing and assist with pasture management. Fencing can be quite costly, especially when added to the every day expenses of keeping 22 rescue horses healthy & happy. Horses need good-quality hay during winter and a lot more of it. The amount of hay consumed during winter months can increase by 30-50% putting quite a strain on our pocket books! Many of the horses currently living at Believe have special nutrition needs and require daily medications and regular vet visits. We invest in rehabilitating and retraining our rescues in hopes of giving them a second chance in finding unconditional love through our adoption program.
Lisa Martinez, owner of Believe Equine Rescue, is a single mother of two who works full-time in addition to running her nonprofit horse rescue located in Roseboro, NC. Lisa is passionate about giving these once abused and abandoned horses a second chance. She recognizes that it takes a village to care for these animals and relies on volunteers and donations from the community to make it work. It truly takes a village to operate a horse rescue!
