Urgent assistance needed to help Hades get their medicine

Hi, my name is Andrew. Over the last 3 years, I’ve gotten the pleasure of getting to know and spend time with my partner who some of you may know. They go by the name Hades. They are probably the kindest, smartest, and funniest person I know. Whenever I am sad or anxious, they’ve always been there to cheer me up or help me calm down. I love them so much.

In late September, Hades and I were packing a truck to move to a new, more affordable apartment in our area. They and I have been struggling financially between rent costs and bills. This was going to help that, however, Hades suffered an accident trying to move some boxes down the stairs. They accidentally tripped while holding heavy boxes, leading to them falling down a half flight of stairs and fracturing their navicular bone in their foot. From what I understand, that’s like the top of the foot, near the ankle. The doctors all say they couldn’t have broken a more painful bone to recover from, and I believe them.

They were finally able to get surgery last Tuesday, and it’s a blessing they did because I went to go pick up medication for them yesterday and I found out their Medicaid insurance deactivated as of the 31st. No notice, no explanation. We haven’t even been able to call them and find out more because they’re closed on weekends. We will be doing that today, but hopes are low.

My partner is on Medicaid because in 2021, Hades had pulmonary embolisms in their lungs, heart, legs, and arms, leading to blood clots. They almost didn’t make it through, and later we found out they have Antiphospholipid syndrome, which means they’re likely to get blood clots. As a result of this and other medical conditions, my partner was given Medicaid as they are on several medications for life that if they stop taking, they will die. The withdrawal alone can kill from some of their medications they need.

Yesterday, I was trying to pick up their Elequis, which is a heavy-grade blood thinner. Without insurance, even with a medical discount card like GoodRx, we’re looking at $630.

I am starting this GoFundMe as we can’t afford this. I’ve been asking around and multiple people are telling me to start one of these fundraisers for them. We can’t afford any more surprises, but it definitely feels like it’s been one fire to put out after the other for us this last entire month. Their birthday is November 5th, just 2 days from now. If you can give even one dollar towards helping us pay for medical costs, doctor visits, medications, and any other unexpected expenses, we would both be SO grateful to you.
