Here is a note from my amazing friend describing his family’s situation:

Hi everyone!

After October 7th, my family and I were forced to evacuate our home in central Gaza and flee to the south of Gaza. We evacuated to more than seven places which are not made for human use.

We left everything behind. Our memories, our precious belongings, documents, our dreams, and our family home of which we built every inch from our sacrifices and sleepless nights. And most sadly, we lost our cats. We also have been informed that our home was destroyed into small pieces. The bitter truth is that there is no returning to our home and our cozy life because it simply no longer exists.

My only wish is to spare my family from any more death. I lost my dad in the 2014 war, and now my uncle’s family was lost two months ago, along with many other dear friends over the last 8 months. It has been incredibly painful.

My cousins, who I call my sisters, are still in Rafah and rely on me and my brother for support. They still face nightmares that only God knows the depth of. What they’re enduring now is something no one should ever have to face. They fled from east Rafah to west Rafah seeking safety, but there is no safety to be found. I can’t lose them as well. I need funds to help them stay safe until a time when they can be evacuated.

Additionally, my mom, brother and I are at risk of living in the streets because we’re not allowed to work to make money for our rent and daily needs. We can’t even apply for asylum and our 30-day visa has already expired.

It breaks my heart to see, and I am asking for your help in saving us.

This money will help my sisters buy food, water, and housing in Gaza. It will also secure medicine and healthcare for my mom, and allow us to buy food and stable housing in Egypt.

Inshallah, we will be free of this nightmare very soon.
