Urgent Assistance for Morocco Earthquake Victims

Hello,

My name is Amal Laassel and many of you know me through my work as an attorney in the Orlando area. Outside of law, however, I have dedicated much of my personal life to charitable work in the U.S. and Morocco. I have usually done it on my own and rarely sought help from others. But this time, I find myself in unchartered territories.

Today, I come to you with a heavy heart, as we face the aftermath of a devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the hundreds of lives lost and the hundreds more who have been injured. Sadly, there are still individuals unaccounted for, and we fear that these numbers will rise in the days to come.

In this time of immense need, we have been contacted by brave individuals and local organizations, who are desperately seeking help. Many of our fellow brothers and sisters have been displaced, forced to flee their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They are unable to return due to the extensive damage, and are now sleeping on the streets. Among them are elderly and young children, who are particularly vulnerable.

We are calling upon our global community to unite and extend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters in Morocco. The immediate necessities they require include clothing, toiletries, medication, food, water, and much more. Every small contribution can make a significant difference in their lives during this difficult time.

To ensure the utmost transparency, rest assured that all funds donated will be directly allocated to those in need. We are in constant communication with the local authorities and I will personally be traveling to Morocco as soon as the airports reopen, to provide on-ground assistance and support.

All funds collected will be distributed to and managed by The Laassel Foundation, Inc. a Not for Profit Organization duly registered under the laws of the State of Florida and classified as a a 501 (c) (3) private foundation with the IRS.

We will be using the funds to purchase all supplies, medication, food and other items necessary to provide relief to the victims of the earthquake and partner up with local associations to help those invidiuals. All purchases will be made in Morocco and the items dropped off in the Marrakech Haouz region.

‎في هذا الوقت الذي تحتاج فيه المساعدة بشكل كبير، تم الاتصال بنا من قبل أشخاص شجعان ومنظمات محلية يطلبون بشدة المساعدة. تم نزوح العديد من إخواننا وأخواتنا، وأجبروا على الفرار من منازلهم لا يحملون سوى ملابسهم. لا يستطيعون العودة بسبب الأضرار الشاسعة، وينامون الآن في الشوارع. بينهم كبار السن والأطفال الصغار، الذين هم أكثر ضعفًا.

‎ندعو مجتمعنا العالمي للتوحد وتمديد يد المساعدة لإخواننا وأخواتنا في المغرب. الضروريات الفورية التي يحتاجونها تشمل الملابس والمستلزمات الشخصية والأدوية والطعام والماء وغيرها الكثير. كل تبرع صغير يمكن أن يحدث فرقًا كبيرًا في حياتهم في هذا الوقت الصعب.

‎لضمان أقصى درجات الشفافية، تأكد أن جميع الأموال المتبرع بها ستخصص مباشرة لمن هم في حاجة. نحن في اتصال مستمر مع السلطات المحلية وسأسافر شخصيًا إلى المغرب بمجرد إعادة فتح المطارات لتقديم المساعدة والدعم الميداني.

Je m'appelle Amal Laassel et beaucoup d'entre vous me connaissent en tant qu'avocate dans la région d'Orlando. En général, j'ai consacré une grande partie de ma vie personnelle à des œuvres de bienfaisance aux États-Unis et au Maroc. Habituellement, je le faisais seule et je demandais rarement de l'aide aux autres. Mais cette fois-ci, je me retrouve dans une situation inhabituelle.

Aujourd'hui, je viens vers vous le cœur lourd après avoir fait face aux conséquences d'un séisme dévastateur de magnitude 6,8 qui a frappé le Maroc. Nos pensées et nos prières vont aux centaines de personnes qui ont perdu la vie et aux centaines d'autres qui ont été blessées. Malheureusement, il y a encore des personnes disparues et nous craignons que ces chiffres augmentes dans les jours à venir.

En ces temps où vous avez grandement besoin d'aide, nous avons été contactés par des personnes courageuses et des organisations locales qui demandent fortement de l'aide. De nombreux frères et sœurs ont été obligés de fuir leurs maisons en ne portant que leurs vêtements. Ils ne peuvent pas rentrer chez eux à cause des dégâts considérables et ils dorment maintenant dans les rues. Parmi eux, il y a des personnes âgées et de jeunes enfants qui sont les plus vulnérables.

Nous appelons notre communauté mondiale à se rassembler et à tendre la main pour aider nos frères et sœurs au Maroc. Les besoins immédiats auxquels ils font face incluent des vêtements, des articles de toilette, des médicaments, de la nourriture, de l'eau et bien plus encore. Chaque petit don peut faire une grande différence dans leur vie en ces temps difficiles.

Pour assurer une transparence maximale, soyez assurés que tous les fonds donnés seront directement affectés à ceux qui en ont besoin. Nous sommes en contact constant avec les autorités locales et je voyagerai personnellement au Maroc dès que les aéroports rouvriront pour apporter de l'aide et un soutien sur le terrain.
