It is never easy to ask for help, especially after being someone who always gave it. But after losing my only supporter—my father—I have no other choice.

In late November, our family’s home in Gaza was completely destroyed. That day, I lost more than 100 loved ones: my father, my two sisters and their children, my uncles, cousins, and many more. I lost everything—my home, my work, my savings, and the life I once had.

I was able to flee with my wife and four children to Egypt, but life here is also a struggle. I cannot provide basic needs, education, or shelter for my children. I am also responsible for my widowed mother, two unmarried sisters (one of whom lost her leg), and my two married sisters who are still trapped in Gaza with their children, facing hunger and danger every day.

My biggest hope is to evacuate my sisters from Gaza as soon as the crossing opens, and to keep supporting them with food and shelter until then.
