At 64 years old and battling chronic pain, I'm facing a critical deadline. After losing both my parents and three other close family members in past 2 years, my health deteriorated significantly, forcing me onto short-term disability twice last year. After actively seeking employment for six months while on unemployment insurance, I have decided to receive my social security.
These days, Social Security isn't enough to live on unless I have work to supplement my income.
But then, my son and daughter-in-law invited me to stay with them in Lilburn, GA, where I can both recover and contribute meaningfully by homeschooling my beloved granddaughter. Moreover, a part-time flexible remote job opportunity with a filmmaker and freelance copy editing opportunities have opened up, but at my new employer's insistence, I cannot begin working until I've moved and settled at my children's home. This opportunity represents not just housing, but purpose, family healing, and a new start when I need it most.
The Challenge: I must vacate my Providence, Rhode Island apartment by April 30th.
I have no funds to vacate my apartment on time, transport my essential belongings to Atlanta, tow my car or hire a driver, and get help loading and unloading in Providence and Atlanta. Without this assistance, I face the heartbreaking prospect of abandoning my possessions, that includes the equipment I need for my future job, and losing my independence.
Your Donation Will Provide:
- Fees to pay 2 people to help me load in Providence
- Fees to pay 2 people to help me unload in Lilburn, GA
- Fees to pay a truck driver while I drive my car
- Fuel
- Rental insurance
- Food
- 2 months of storage rent
- Miscellaneous unforeseen expenses
- A dignified transition during this vulnerable time
Every contribution, regardless of size, brings me closer to being reunited with my family and beginning this new chapter. Your generosity today will make an immediate difference in the life of a senior facing housing insecurity.
Please help me make this critical move before my April 30th deadline. I promise to pay your kindness forward.
