My name is Nataliya Churikova, and I am raising funds to support families with children living in Kyiv, Ukraine. The ongoing war and relentless Russian attacks have caused severe damage to Kyiv’s energy infrastructure, leaving thousands without electricity, heat, or water for days – sometimes weeks.
The Current Crisis
- In just one month, Russian forces have attacked Kyiv’s energy facilities four times.
- As a result of a massive attack and damage on January 24 to critical infrastructure, nearly 6,000 apartment buildings in Kyiv (approx. 1 million residends) were left without heat supply again this morning. Most of them are buildings that had already been reconnected—or attempts had been made to reconnect them—to heating after the shelling on January 9 and 20.
- After Russian shelling on January 20, over 800, 000 Kyiv residents remain without power, water, or heat.
- Almost million people have electricity just few hrs per day but some houses doesn't have any since 9 of January.
- Outdoor temperature is -17-18°C, indoor temperatures in many homes drop to 5–6°C, threatening the lives of children, the elderly, the sick, and animals.
- On Kyiv’s left bank, people receive less than 3 hours of electricity per day, but now - any at all.
- Over 100 houses of people have been without heat for more than two weeks.
What Help Is Needed Most
1. Power stations and power banks: to provide light, charge phones, and enable communication during blackouts.
2. Portable propane heater & stove: to cook food and stay warm when electricity is unavailable.
3. We buy new thermal clothing, fleece blankets, and new fleece top size S, M, L, XL as they are warmer than used ones: to protect against the freezing temperatures.
4. Essential life-saving supplies for families struggling to survive this brutal winter amid ongoing war.
Why Your Support Makes a Real Difference
For over three years, we have supported more than 300 children who lost their parents in russian war against Ukraine.
Now families with children in Kyiv need our help more than ever.
Living without reliable electricity or heating is unimaginable for any of us — but for many in Kyiv, it is reality for days at a time. As my friend wrote to me recently:
“We can’t leave our home even if we have no heat for days. I don’t remember the last time I had hot food, but I cannot leave because I care for my elderly mother, and my son is fighting. This is our home.”
Another family with 5 children has said: “We have no running water and live in freezing apartments where the temperature is just 6°C. We would be grateful to have a power station to cook hot food and drinks, to have light, to charge the phones and laptops to be able to work and for children to attend online lessons and heaters to survive.
Thanks God, we can occasionally come to the church for hot drinks during the day."
Hospitals are also severely affected — treatments are halted, babies are born by candlelights, and surgeries happen in the dark.
The humanitarian crisis is growing daily.
A single power station can change hundreds of lives by providing vital energy to those in need. Portable propane heater & stove means warmth and hot food.
