Urgent Appeal: Surgery for Anna's Survival

HELP ANNA STOP BLEEDING FROM THE BRAIN! Hi - My name is Erin Morgan and I live in Durham, NC. My friend Anna Lawer is 49 and lives in Ghana. She is a housewife with 2 children. Anna suffers from schizophrenia and has been managed well for over 2 years and maintained reasonable health.

Unfortunately, on July 10, 2025, at about 9:30 pm, Anna suddenly lost consciousness and was frighteningly unresponsive. She had a distant stare, couldn't move her limbs, and was incontinent. She had erratic breathing and heartbeat and was rushed to the Sinel Hospital Centre, which was the nearest facility for emergency treatment. She was in the ICU for 5 days and the recovery unit for 4 additional days. A CT scan showed multiple aneurysms with ballooned veins and brain bleeding at risk of rupture at any time. Doctors have recommended surgery - a procedure known as interventional radiology, and it is performed in only one facility in Ghana. It costs approximately $40,000 USD, and unlike in the USA, they will not perform it without payment.

Anna and her husband Sofo and their two children are not able to afford what is a staggering sum in America, let alone in Ghana. They have no means to even attempt to get it in Ghana. Anna's husband Sofo is a senior and also nearly blind himself, thus he is unable to work enough to afford their living, and their children are also unable to assist as their eldest daughter recently lost her position due to cuts in USAID funding. This is a desperate appeal for help to do the surgery. This is truly life or death for Anna. Regardless of the outcome, the costs so far have crippled this good family. It is a RACE AGAINST TIME. Anna has been sent home for palliative care due to not having the surgery funds. This care is tragically limited to only 21 DAYS!
