My name is Shayne Washington Kingston, and I am making an urgent appeal on behalf of my family and community in Westmoreland, Jamaica. My roots are deep here, and my heart is broken witnessing the devastation caused by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa.
The storm was one of the strongest in history to strike Jamaica, and it has caused catastrophic destruction. My communities are facing a humanitarian crisis:
• No Shelter: Homes have been literally erased. Families, including young children, have no safe place to sleep.
• No Food or Water: Livelihoods have been destroyed, crops ruined, and basic access to necessities is cut off. People are hungry and vulnerable.
• No Hope: The scale of loss is overwhelming. My community needs immediate help to simply survive and begin to look toward rebuilding.
I am not a person who asks for help for myself, but I am here humbly appealing on behalf of those who have lost absolutely everything.
This campaign is for immediate relief and foundational rebuilding. Funds will go directly to purchasing essential supplies like food, water, emergency shelter materials (tarps), and basic hygiene kits.
Every dollar will help a family start over, whether it's for:
• A single sheet of lumber
• A bag of cement
• A desperately needed meal
Please, if you can find it in your heart to contribute anything at all, it will be received with profound gratitude.
If you are unable to donate, your support by sharing this campaign and sending a prayer is an equally powerful act of solidarity.
Thank you for helping the resilient people of Westmoreland rise from the rubble.
Sincerely,
Shayne Washington Kingston
