Urgent Appeal: Life-Saving Medical Care & Financial Support for My Elderly Parents

With heavy hearts, I am reaching out on behalf of my elderly parents during a fragile and critical time in their lives. They came to the United States later in life (recently immigrated) seeking safety, stability, and the chance to live their remaining years with dignity. Instead, they are now facing severe and life-threatening cardiac conditions along with multiple complex medical challenges.
Every day has become a battle — filled with hospital visits, medications, uncertainty, and physical pain. We are doing everything within our means to care for them, but the medical and financial burden has grown beyond what we can manage alone. We are turning to our community with humility, asking for support so they may continue receiving the care they desperately need.
With your help, they can continue living with comfort, safety, dignity — and the stability they urgently need.

My Mother’s Health
Just days ago, my mother suffered another heart attack.
She has advanced multivessel coronary artery disease with multiple blockages and a severely weakened heart. She now has four coronary stents, placing her at extremely high risk for stent thrombosis, which can cause sudden cardiac death.
Doctors initially recommended bypass surgery, but due to her complex coronary anatomy and high surgical risk, multiple stents were placed instead as a staged approach.
She requires:
• Strict dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) without interruption
• Close cardiology follow-up
• Ongoing cardiac monitoring
Any lapse in treatment could result in another life-threatening event.
Severe Spine & Mobility Conditions
Alongside her cardiac condition, she suffers from severe spinal and orthopedic disease, including:
• Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis (DISH)
• Ossification of the Posterior Longitudinal Ligament (OPLL)
• Multilevel degenerative disc disease
• Severe Lumbar spinal stenosis
• Advanced bilateral knee osteoarthritis
• Severe osteoporosis
These conditions, combined with chronic pain and nerve compression, severely limit her mobility and daily independence, increasing her dependence on others.Doctors have recommended surgery as a necessary intervention to reduce pain, prevent further neurological complications, and improve her quality of life.
She also manages:
• Type 2 diabetes
• Refractory hypertension and dyslipidemia
• Hypothyroidism
• Obstructive sleep apnea (CPAP dependent)
• Depression and anxiety
Despite these challenges, she remains patient, grateful, and deeply resilient.

My Father’s Health
A few months ago, my father survived a major STEMI heart attack. He underwent surgery and now lives with advanced multivessel coronary artery disease and additional chronic conditions, including:
• Dementia affecting memory and independence
• Severe rheumatoid arthritis causing chronic pain and limited mobility
• Hypertension and hyperglycemia
• Anxiety and depression
Due to multiple serious heart conditions, including coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, and ischemic cardiomyopathy, my father requires ongoing specialist care, medications, and monitoring.

Financial Hardship & Zakat Eligibility
My parents currently have:
• No income
• No savings
• Growing medical and household expenses
They are financially dependent and medically fragile, making them eligible for zakat as needy, debt-burdened, and dependent individuals.
All donations will be used strictly for essential care, medications, medical appointments, and basic living support — no luxuries.

To ensure their safety and continuity of care, we are seeking to secure one full year of essential stability.
Basic monthly expenses:
• Rent: $1,700
• Utilities: $200
• Groceries (bare minimum): $650
• Health insurance premium: $320 (plus additional out-of-pocket medical costs)
Total monthly essentials: $2,870
12-month total: $34,440
To include a small buffer for unforeseen medical and emergency expenses, our goal is $40,000, providing a full year of essential living and life-saving care, allowing them to focus on treatment and recovery with peace of mind.
