I am Mohammed Abuamira, a 29-year-old reaching out to you from the heart of the Gaza Strip – a place synonymous with resilience and struggle. Before the war, my family and I led a fulfilling life. Beautiful family times included barbecuing meat at my brother’s house, but those times ended on the morning of the second day when the war began. My brother’s apartment was burned, my brother was martyred (killed) by the bombing and he left behind two children, and my sister’s husband was martyred (killed) and left behind three children. Parts of our house were destroyed, and we lived in the worst and most difficult conditions. I eventually lost my source of income.
However, on the morning of October 7th, everything changed when the war erupted. In a matter of moments, we were forced to evacuate our home, leaving behind our belongings and the life we once knew. But we did not go to southern Gaza and we stayed in northern Gaza, where we were in one of the shelter.
Family first:
My brother Osama was martyred (killed) by a bombing, and he has two children, Mohammad and Tayseer. Seven-year-old Mohammed has dreams of becoming an engineer for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip when he grows up.
And also my sister's husband martyred (killed) from shelling, my sister has three beautiful girls.
My father who was working is a teacher, and is now retiring from work and has lost him source of income and has become without an income source.
For over 165 days, we have been running, seeking safety amidst bombings, and struggling to survive. It's not just the fear of bombs that haunt us but also the looming threats of starvation, disease, and harsh living conditions that could put our lives in danger.
Help me back to Fribourg, Switzerland:
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering and currently work as an Artificial Intelligence engineer. My aspiration is to pursue both my Master's and Ph.D. degrees in this field in Europe. One of my recent achievements includes a training program at EPFL University in Fribourg, Switzerland, where I resided for four months. Fribourg holds a special place in my heart, and I cherish the time I spent there, exploring not only the city but also other Swiss cities like Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, Bern, Zug, and Basel. Additionally, I had the opportunity to visit European cities such as Munich, and Milan.
My goal is to return to the first European city I lived in, Fribourg, and pursue a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence. Your support and contributions through this fundraising campaign will play a significant role in maintaining my life, enabling me to leave Gaza; which has become completely destroyed, and realizing my dream of obtaining a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence.
The purpose of the fundraising campaign
To survive the genocide in Gaza, my family and I decided to immediately evacuate to Egypt to preserve what was left of our lives and start a new beginning and continue building our future and the future of our children. However, the costs of traveling to Egypt are very high and we are a family consisting of 12 adults and 11 children, so I created this campaign to collect donations for covering expenses travel to Egypt.
I am reaching out to you with a desperate plea for your kind support to help my family to evacuate from Gaza to safe place to start new safe life. This is also will help me to back to Switzerland to make new start to my future and obtain my master's degree.
As I mentioned above, I'm created this fundraising campaign to evacuate my family through the Rafah/Egypt crossing, which currently requires $5000 per person. This is our only chance to survive. I humbly ask for your help now more than ever.
As a first stage, those from my family who will be evacuated from Gaza strip are my mother, father, and my three unmarried sisters, and of course in addition to me.
Every donation, regardless of its size, plays an instrumental role in ensuring the safety and well-being of my family. If contributing financially is not feasible for you, your assistance sharing this page with your friends and family will be precious. Time is of the essence, and your support can make a life-saving difference for us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can provide. Your compassion and generosity have the power to be the beacon of hope that my family and I desperately need.
