Urgent Appeal for Bruno - Road to Recovery after Dog Attack
Donation protected
I’m Robbie, I’m writing this as an urgent appeal to help with costs after my dog, Bruno was badly attacked by two Pit Bulls.
He is on the road to recovery and is doing really well! It is going to be a long, slow and sore journey for him but he is getting the upmost TLC and support possible.
Bruno, is a Lurcher. Whippet mumma, Greyhound papa. He is loved by all who meet him. He’s a soft, gentle soul. A couch potato, ready for cuddles. He is also a boisterous player and gets super excited when he plays! On Tuesday 10th June, 2025, Bruno was attacked viciously by 2 pitbull mixes. One pup, one dog.
I was in a dog park with a friend and my dog for a last minute run around, late in the evening. A couple approached the gate and asked me if Bruno was good with other dogs. To which I responded “he’s a boisterous player but he won’t do any harm”. The male owner said “I’m happy with that” and let their dogs into the enclosed, fenced off dog park.
Within moments, their 2 dogs brutally wounded Bruno, leaving a large portion of his chest skin hanging off. As well as a secondary bite to the shoulder.
Unfortunately, Bruno is not at this point insured. It’s an admin thing I’ve been meaning to get on top of but as he’s 8 years old, healthy and generally trouble free, it hasn’t been prioritised. There is a lot of shame and guilt here. I would appreciate understanding at this time.
The owners are point blank refusing any responsibility and we are going to need all the help we can get.
Because the attack was late at night, we had to take him to an emergency, out of hour vets. The initial surgery cost just shy of £1900. Since has been over £350 worth of first hand vet care and medication. We are being very well supported by our vet practice, they are being very understanding and helpful. But they can’t work for free. It will be at the very least £55 per week for the foreseeable future and that doesn’t include further meds or treatments like further stapling.
He may well need a second surgery. We are already exceeding £2500 in vet bills for his immediate care and ongoing treatment. We are reaching out for financial support to help cover these significant costs that have already been incurred and continue to accumulate.
Moving forward, he is going to need intensive, specialist support.
Every single donation brings us closer to recouping what we’ve paid out to ensure Bruno’s strong recovery. We have people that need repaying, on top of the initial significant bill that we had to set up a payment plan for. We would really appreciate any help in this difficult time.
