Urgent Help for Trans Friend In Saudi Arabia
Donation protected
I met a Saudi Arabian friend in Glasgow in 2014 when he was seeking asylum.
She is now a Trans-Lesbian girl who is not allowed to leave Saudi Arabia after being released from jail having served 9 years. We reconnected in lockdown and been exchanging messages ever since.
And now she needs help. She was imprisoned for:
1) Being a freedom activist.
2) For leaving Islam.
3) And for being a member of the LGBTQI+ community.
She is currently unemployed, and faces the risk of becoming homeless and worse situations as her family just found out she’s on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and were shocked with the situation.
She urgently needs to get out of her family’s house and she needs enough money to rent a place. Roughly £150 will get a first month's rent in Saudi Arabia right now - but she needs 2 months of rent, plus food transportation, loan payment and phone bill (450 or 550 British pounds). If we can raise any more to help with her food and transport expenses it means that gives her a bit more support in this desperate situation.
Saudi trans girls live a very nightmarish reality and Eden Knight (a known Saudi trans girl) took her own life around year and a half ago because she was facing a similar predicament.
She needs to get a place and find work immediately once she feels safe enough, try to stabilise her mental health and gather strength to set up her new life - she's only been released from prison couple of months ago.
You can relay messages to her through me, she’s waiting for much-needed moral and financial support, any amount of money can helpful.
Thanks in advance for your kindness and care. I know it's tough times so honestly even £1 from each person will help right now and if you can kindly share the campaign.
Another way to help is if you know of any English-Arabic/Arabic-English translation work she can do remotely - she is qualified to do it.
Much love,
