Urgent: Ameer Needs Medical and Travel Aid

**UPDATE May 4, 2025** Ameer made it to another country safely! I can't publish where he is, but he can stay there legally for a couple of months and get treatment for his health problem while we figure out his next step. Unfortunately, unlike in Rwanda, this country does not offer any financial support to refugees and doesn't allow them to work, so he can still use all the help he can get! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped him so far. You really may have saved his life.
**UPDATE May 3, 2025** Ameer tried to go to Rwanda but was rejected at the border. We have one last chance in another country. After this, he will be deported to Sudan.
We've used all the money on plane tickets. I have had to use hundreds of dollars of my own money to help Ameer. I really need help to get him to that country.

My name is Faith Hall. I’m a student at BYU from West Jordan, Utah, currently interning in Kazakhstan with an organization that helps refugees apply for asylum.
For the past month, I’ve been working closely with a 20-year-old student from Sudan named Ameer. Despite the genocidal war raging in his home country, Ameer has faced repeated asylum denials here in Kazakhstan — a country that rarely grants protection, even in the most desperate cases.
Now, Ameer has been ordered to leave Kazakhstan by April 20th. After that date, he will lose his housing, the legal right to work or study, and will eventually face deportation.
On top of everything, Ameer is struggling with serious untreated stomach issues and has lost around 40 pounds since arriving. He cannot afford medical care here.
Ameer has made a plan to travel to a safe third country, but he has absolutely no money to make it happen.
This fundraiser will help buy Ameer a plane ticket, cover a few critical medical visits and treatments, and give him some support to get on his feet once he arrives.
Since GoFundMe doesn’t operate in Kazakhstan, the funds will be sent to my American bank account, and I will personally ensure they are transferred directly to Ameer to cover his travel, medical needs, and initial resettlement. I’ll provide a brief update with proof of transfer so donors know their support got to him safely.
One day, Ameer hopes to build a stable life and advocate for other refugees.
Any amount you give can make a real difference — not just in Ameer’s life, but in the lives of the people he hopes to help.
Thank you so much for reading and caring.

P.S. Ameer has given me permission to share his story and raise funds on his behalf. This fundraiser is a personal initiative and is not affiliated with BYU or the organization where I’m interning.
