Hello people from Ruben, Karen, and Liam.

I would like to introduce you to our kitten named Alice. She is 11 months old. We hired a pet sitter to watch our 4 dogs and 2 cats while we were going on a cruise. We came back home today 19 July around 5:45 EST and found our sweet Alice in this condition. We immediately took her to the emergency hospital to get checked out because the condition she was when we arrived was not the same as when we left. The cover photo for this post was taken 3 days before we left and the other photos were taken when we got home. We have spent the last 8 hours sitting in the examination room waiting for an update on our sweet girl. The vet came back with updates and they confirmed our suspicions. “Human induced blunt force trauma”. I contacted “ROVER” the company the sitter works for and contacted the authorities.

Updates from the Vet:

• subcutaneous emphysema (air pocket under her skin) which caused her scalp to separate from her skull

• comminuted fracture of the right mandibular branch (fractured jaw)

• severe soft tissues swelling of the right lateral and ventral aspect of the facial region with focal emphysema

We were quoted $5k to keep her at the hospital for 3 days and another $10k-$13k for the mandibular reconstruction (jaw surgery)
