Urgent Aid Needed: Mold Threatens Our Home
Donation protected
∆ Hi my name is Genger White. On May 9th, my brother passed away. My family and I drove home after saying goodbye to my brother at the hospital to a visit at our home from a "mold specialist." As he was digging into sheetrock while speaking through a special respirator mask for protection, he asked, "Why aren't you going to an extended stay hotel yet? You need to get out of here!"
Three years ago we purchased our dream home. We requested a brand new roof before we bought it. The home owner told us that he had just replaced half of the roof right before we signed the contract with him and agreed to replace the other half of the roof with good quality materials. He gave us a receipt showing that this was done so we purchased. Immediately after the purchase, we started noticing small leaks in a few parts of the home. We called the roofing company out many times where they would add caulking, once replaced a shingle and would tell us that it was fixed. But at the next heavy rain, it would begin to leak again. We would call them back out and they assured us that they would take care of it and wouldn't leave us stranded.
So, during the week my brother was in the hospital, we discovered our roof was now leaking in almost every room of the house, during the heavy winds and rain storm that happened in mid April.
We called our homeowners insurance and put in a claim. Friends from church came over to look at it and found mold in multiple parts of the house, but the worst was in the furnace room. The HVAC was sending mold spores through the furnace into every room of the house. We hired a roofing company to research why our roof was leaking. They found that the shingles were the wrong type for our roof pitch and that a ridge was added that was not to code and shouldn't have been used. We also found out that the previous owner had cheaply replaced our roof on wood that was warped and damaged.-according to the roofing company that had replaced the second half of our roof.
Because the roofing was incorrectly installed, our home insurance refuses to touch any of it. We have contacted the roofing company who are telling us that they will not warranty it because they had advised the home seller that He needed to change the wood under the shingles and he told them that he was flipping it and didn't care (while we were already under contract to buy.)
Due to the leakage of the roof, the HVAC pipe rusted out and broke apart inside of the ceiling which caused carbon monoxide to leak into the home, making our health issues worse. We are thankful to be alive!
Our home insurance company Safeco hired a company Stanley Steamers to come out and remove the sheet rock that contained some of the active mold. They painted over it with kilz and left sheet rock dust intact with mold still growing on it, with spores and active mold now all over the carpet. They did not touch the mold in the kitchen. They ran an air quality test and told us that it was now safe to return home, so they would not cover any other hotel stays. We sent our own home remediation company who took 3 active samples of mold and found that they were dangerous types of mold including aspergillus and hyphus which have the side effects that we have experienced for two years now. We sent those samples to Safeco who told us that they ran their own tests which said the same thing, but Safeco believes that they are both false positives so they are not going to cover anything further. We went back to the house a few times to lock up or pick up a few items and we all were sick and it almost sent me back to the hospital so we know that it is not safe and the mold is still growing with nothing to stop it.
We have exhausted all other measures and we are unable to live in the home. We believe that God has a plan forward and is going to restore everything. We have been living in a hotel for roughly three weeks and have been piecing together little bits of what we need in the short term to live.
Through research and asking around, we found a law firm that are MOLD Specialists. They will do an intensive exploration of the environment of our house, testing all the mold and correlating it with all four of our bodies to see what damage has been done to us and the home. The retainer fees are expensive and we have exhausted all but $250 of our savings because of the hotel rooms, extra food expenses, doctors visits and medications. Jeremiah has been in the ER 3 times, barely able to breathe, thinking he was going to die, and to the doctor many other times for a head-to-toe rash. Jonathan has been in the ER 1 time after passing out and almost gone two other occasions. Genna and I have been experiencing allergy symptoms, and we all have been experiencing brain fog, tiredness, rashes and so many other symptoms.
We have asked around and called other lawyers, and this seems to be the only path forward. After the mold consultants do all their tests, they will know how to direct the case. The goal is to get the house fixed, safe to live, free from highly dangerous mold and carbon monoxide. Hopefully, restoration for our health and well-being.
We are asking for your help... Please donate if you can or share this GoFundMe!! We need to act fast!! We need to get tested while everything is in our system.
We have included below what the phases are and what the donations will go to. Thank you for all your help in getting our family safe and healthy again!!
PHASE I
Environmental Investigation
Mold Case Consulting will collect all necessary environmental evidence to be sampled in the contaminated property through a series of tests. The environmental testing will be conducted by a licensed and/or certified Mold Inspector and reviewed by a Mold Case Consulting Industrial Hygienist. Mold Case Consulting will then compile and prepare a microbiology report and compile all other relevant environmental data for a complete environmental analysis.
Environmental testing includes: (1) the EPA-36 Panel for mold speciation and mycotoxin pairing; (2) air quality samples to establish mold volumes throughout the environment; and (3) a direct swab sample from your HVAC unit and/or any visible microbial colonies to further identify widespread contamination.
During the inspection, Mold Case Consulting may also collect pictures to be utilized in our Pack-Out Estimate to establish property damages in your mold-contaminated structure. Mold Case Consulting will then have its Industrial Hygienist review all collected environmental data and inspection notes, and render an expert opinion on the extent of the contamination.
Estimated Timeframe: 2-3 weeks

If the engagement of additional expert services is requested, including, but not limited to, identification as an expert witness for litigation purposes, deposition testimony/appearances, or hearing testimony/appearances, then a separate engagement letter will be provided, and the cost of the engagement of any such experts are billed separately.
PHASE II
Medical Discovery
Mold Case Consulting will order medical testing to detect the presence of environmental toxins in your body. The type of medical testing we recommend may depend upon the environmental analysis results and may be conducted by urinalysis or stool sample.
Your medical sample may be taken in the privacy of your own home. If evidence from the historical data supports it, we can establish the health effects commonly associated with toxins found in your body during the identification process. Our medical team will review the laboratory results and provide a medical data overview.
Our medical team may recommend additional testing relevant to your symptomatology. We will prepare a medical report that includes all relevant historical toxin data for a complete analysis. Medical testing is not intended for medical diagnostic purposes but is vital for correlating the mold in your environment to the symptoms you’re experiencing.

The above costs represent the costs of medical testing for one individual only. Mold Case Consulting does recommend testing for additional residents of a contaminated environment. Mold Case Consulting can provide the cost of additional testing at any time, and these additional services will be billed separately.
PHASE III
Expert Analysis & Correlation Reports
The Expert Correlation Analysis is designed to identify a true connection between what is going on in a client’s environment and in their body. Mold Case Consulting will have a team of medical and environmental experts review the collected data to establish that the symptoms a client is experiencing are caused by or can be caused by the toxic contaminants found in their environment.
We will finalize the process by compiling our findings into a written Case Summary Report, detailing our environmental test results, medical test results, and experts’ conclusions. Mold Case Consulting’s writing team will request and compile all documentation related to the case, including correspondence, contracts, lease agreements, environmental and medical records, and any other pertinent information related to the case. This information is then analyzed and processed to create a clear and concise case summary report that effectively communicates the client’s story.
Mold Case Consulting works with Board Certified Medical Doctors, depending on results, to establish a mold sickness diagnosis or endotoxemia diagnosis and the estimated cost of treatment. We will maintain contact with the client so that we can provide their legal counsel with direction and recommendations for any additional experts if needed for the case.
