Urgent Aid for Ziad's Family in Crisis

My name is Sandra Aviles, and I am a former staff member of the UN. I met Ziad Suleiman Al-Najjar through our mutual care and love of agriculture and animals. Ziad was a beneficiary of agriculture inputs and solar energy panels from the UN and Mercy Corps respectively.

Many of us have witnessed the horrific ordeal and suffering of the Palestinian people. This is Ziad's story, a husband, a father, and a former agricultural worker who lost everything and has been displaced dozens of times with his wife and three children. Below is his story.

Hello, I am Ziad Suleiman Al-Najjar, a Palestinian from Gaza, married with 3 children, Sarah, Suleiman, and Mohammed. The situation here is extremely catastrophic, and any available goods are incredibly expensive. My family needs help to raise money to buy food, necessities, medical treatment, and travel as it is very costly when we are told to evacuate.

I used to work in agriculture and had a poultry farm. On the first of October 7, 2023, my house was completely destroyed. We had built it over the years and it cost us a lot of effort and a lot of money. We miraculously escaped but left it without anything. My farms, which were my source of income and my life, were also destroyed. They turned into ashes in a moment. There was no longer any peace or calm, as the repeated displacement from one area to another has been very costly. Sometimes we leave the tents and sleep in the street without shelter, far from the combat zones, where there is fear and tension from the unknown future that awaits us.

I really have no idea how I am supposed to continue my life after all this despite the lack of education and the lack of schools for my children after schools have been completely destroyed, 2 years of school were lost for my children.

I am also a patient who needs health care and medical tests every two months. Three months before the war, I had a health problem and the doctors performed an endoscopic surgery where they found out that I have Crohn's disease. I need constant treatment and tests every two months. It is very expensive as the health system has completely disappeared after all the hospitals were destroyed. However, I believe in God and have faith that things will pass and we can manage all of this. I need your help to cover the costs to feed and protect my family in whatever way I can as well as to cover the costs of traveling abroad for medical treatment. I must be able to care for my family. Any amount is so much appreciated.
