Urgent Aid for Whitaker Family's Home Repair: $2,500
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Brianna, and I am the second-born daughter to the Whitaker family. My family and I would greatly appreciate it if you could spare a moment of your time.
This GoFundMe was made to raise emergency funding to cover the costs of the homeowner's insurance deductible and subsequent repair costs for the water and mold damages in the ceiling of our first-floor living room/second-floor hallway bathroom floor. The sudden, gaping hole in the photos below occurred today, Monday, May 19, 2025, and homeowner's insurance wants a $2,500 deductible paid before they will do anything at all to help. Even then, if we are able to pay that and they send a representative or plumber out to take a look and they deduce that the damage happened over a period of time and not instantly, they won't cover any of the subsequent repair costs.
Since moving into this house almost 3 years ago now, we have faced a multitude of expensive issues including, but not limited to, a broken central AC unit, a broken microwave, and a broken dishwasher. As a low-income, six-person family with only one five-figure source of primary income (that has been frequently threatened and placed into jeopardy due to numerous employers' ineptitude and blatant disregard for our well-being as a family), with 2 kids in college who have had to jump through a heap of hoops just to acquire any kind of respect and attention to our need for aid (and another of whom we're unable to cover costs for and have been denied aid), it has been not just difficult to deal with this bombardment of financial issues but at times, downright impossible and incredibly unfair. This list of issues above has not been able to be funded as a result of our status and we have been diligently trying to scrounge up what little we can in savings to repair our AC unit and our car's maintenance for inspections but with insurance's increasing demands, neglect, and ineptitude and compounding problems, I'm sure you can see how difficult it has been to continue to live with confidence in the roof over our heads and the income we have to keep us afloat.
I am eternally grateful to God for the fact that we have been able to live safely and healthily with our bare minimum necessities for this long, and I have no doubt that we will continue to survive as brightly as the flames that ignite our souls, hearts, minds, and spirits to keep going in spite of all of these troubles every day, in the hopes that some miracle may befall us and we can finally move past this prolonged season of financial strife and turmoil.
It is for this hope that I graciously thank whoever may have the kindness in their heart to read this, and with this hope that I perform the incredibly humbling and difficult ask, not to fund our lives and the many problems that have occurred for us over the years, but to fund that hope. The hope that by fulfilling this impossibly high deductible for us, and beating the unfairness of potentially having to cover all of the repair costs ourselves for a home barely capable of even being lived in, we may have our spirits ignited and hope grown to muster the courage beyond the spirit to continue on in this world. Therefore, this is meant to raise money for that initial deductible and any emergency or prolonged repair costs that come our way as we navigate through this.
I apologize for the dramatics, and I do genuinely mean wholeheartedly the thanks that I and my family give to those who read this plea and donate if they're able. If you're not able and/or you are and you still feel moved to help, my final ask is that you would please share this around in any way you can to whomever you can. I am incredibly aware that the world's issues are numerous, and many are potentially more dire than this, but quite honestly, this would grant me the hope to keep on moving and keep on hoping that just maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel.
And I pray and sincerely hope that this touched you in some way. I cannot thank the kind, generous people enough for reading this far and doing whatever they can to support.
