My name is Melissa, and I am writing to you today as both a cancer survivor on SSI and the proud grandmother and guardian of my beautiful, medically complex, and medically fragile granddaughter, Toriana , Tori requires intensive, specialized daily care. While she is on Medicaid, the program unfortunately does not cover everything she needs to stay safe, healthy, and comfortable. With the recent, drastic rise in inflation—including a recent $100 monthly rent increase—our fixed household income is completely stretched to its absolute limit.
