I am Thevindu Dasanayake, the president of the Sri Lankan Society at Brunel University. We’re raising support mainly for families in Sri Lanka devastated by the floods and landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwah. Official reports say at least 355 people have died and about 366 remain missing across the country.

Entire communities have been displaced, homes destroyed and many families are struggling without shelter, water or food. On top of that, some Sri Lankan students here in the UK are now facing financial hardship because their families cannot send funds due to the disaster.
