I never thought my life could unravel this fast. In October, a small capillary ruptured in my brain, leaving me hospitalized, weak, and unable to work for weeks while doctors monitored for complications. Just two weeks ago, on top of that, I was laid off from my job as an Assistant Professor at Winston-Salem State University due to brutal budget cuts—after years of dedicating myself to teaching political science, mentoring students, and building courses on urban policy and social equity. Now, with mounting medical bills, no income, and my health still fragile, I’m on the brink of total collapse. Due to this, I need to move back to Chicago in February or March to get the proper treatment with my physician team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital
The double blow has wiped out my savings. I’ve scraped by on credit cards for basics, but I urgently need $6,000 for moving expenses to a cheaper place and first month’s rent plus security deposit. Without it, eviction looms by Christmas—I’ll be packing boxes with shaky hands, no truck, no new home, and my recovery at risk. Every night, the headaches return, and panic sets in: how will I afford meds, food, or even a doctor’s follow-up when I can’t keep a roof over my head?
Please, spare $5, $10, or $20 if you can—it could be the miracle that saves me from the streets. Share widely if donating isn’t possible; your share might reach a lifeline. I’m fighting to rebuild, but right now, I’m barely hanging on. Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart.
