Urgent Aid for Our Family's Medical and Financial Crisis

Hello everyone... Most of you know me, and know how I hate to have to do this. You know my family. We would much rather help others than ask for help ourselves, but we need some help right now and it is more urgent than we even realized until last week.

As you likely already know, we are all disabled. My dad works as a contract consulting engineer, a field which has taken a MASSIVE hit in the past 12-18 months due to political changes, research grants and tariffs causing many companies to have to cut workforce and end contracts prematurely. Since August of 24, he's only had a contract for about 2 1/2 months. This is through no fault of his own- he is known in his field as a gifted and hardworking team member, and has even been called a "wizard" by recruiting firms for his stellar reputation.

Unemployment ran out a long time ago. There are no extensions, no exceptions. The mortgage company no longer offers the deferment/reduced payment plan that was in place in the past, either.

The new political bill also caused my chronically ill, disabled, bedbound mother to lose her health insurance overnight. She will be unable to get more insurance until April, when she will be eligible for medicare. She does not qualify for medicaid, because my dad is on Social Security, even though that barely covers the mortgage and his insurance.

Last week, my mother was hospitalized with necrotizing fasciitis and kidney injury. She has endured three surgeries, several days on a vent/intubated, tests, procedures and about a week so far in the ICU. Today, her surgeon said that she will be out of the hospital in about a week. We are extremely grateful to God and the excellent doctors for her progress, but we were also told that due to the PICC line and some other details she will absolutely HAVE to go to a medical rehab after discharge.

The hospital has compassion care funding through grants, which were thankfully made available to her. Rehabs do not. To my understanding, this will cost at least 3000 dollars.

My dad and I are both desperately seeking ANY work we can find that we are able to do. So far, there has been no luck. The market is flatlined as costs and bills pile up. His SS doesn't even cover the utilities and groceries after the mortgage, and I have been unable to find much work outside of my small jewelry business as of the writing of this intro. I am seeking ANYTHING local or remote work that I am able to do with my own disabilities (due to severe neurological damage in my spine I cannot do heavy physical work). However, we are now up against a wall and need to ask for help, which is not something we do lightly.

I am trying to raise enough money to cover one month in a medical rehab for my mother, and help us cover our outstanding expenses a little longer while my dad is still seeking a full time job in his field (while also still being willing to take anything he can find in the meanwhile). Anything else will be put toward whatever amount my mom ends up owing after the hospital grant covers some of her care.

We are extremely grateful for any bit of help, and every dollar counts. Thank you so very much for reading, sharing, or any amount you can give. God bless.
