It is with heavy hearts that we come to you, our friends and acquaintances, at this time. Our dad is critically ill. He has three arteries in his heart that are blocked; one 100%, one 90%, and one 80%. He needs to have triple bypass.

Before Christmas, he began urinating bright red blood. He has had kidney issues for a good majority of his life. At this time, he was found to have a major infection with both kidneys deficient and one in failure. Both kidneys were found to have stones in them with the right kidney having a 3.7 mm stone and several smaller stones in that kidney. The left kidney had stones in it and all the way down to the bladder. This is the kidney that is not functioning. He was taken to surgery to have stents placed in one of the kidneys, just to get him by until the heart surgery has been completed. He will require procedures on his kidneys, but only after his heart has been addressed. His heart will not withstand the anesthesia that will be required to sedate him enough to perform the kidney surgery. Plavix, a blood thinner, was started to help keep him from hopefully going into cardiac arrest from blood clots.

Our dad is self-employed and works in underground construction, installing a good majority of water and utility hookups to many residential areas along with waterworks in the city, in and around Bakersfield. Although he has medical insurance he does not have state disability that will sustain him while he is recovering. Due to not having any means to pay rent, food, copays, and other living expenses is preventing him from proceeding with the required surgeries to keep him alive. He will die without them.
