Our precious new puppy, Miss. Maggie May, sustained a spiral fracture to her hind leg on Tuesday. This was a freak accident. She loves to hop around when she sees new people or new doggo friends. We were going to get her microchipped, and she was very excited to see all the other pups! She was doing her "happy hops" and came down on her leg wrong, twisting it behind her. She immediately started yelping, catching us all off guard and shocking us because it didn't appear that anything had happened. She immediately began favoring her hind leg and not using it or putting any weight on it. We immediately took her to an urgent care vet ($$$) because nobody else could take her in and see her. If you know anything about urgent care vets, then you know that they can be astonishingly expensive, but we didn't want the issue to get worse or develop into a catastrophic injury from delaying treatment. Well, several X-rays, blood work, medication, a leg splint, and a head cone, and Mrs. Maggie is on the mend. The vet prescribed 4-6 weeks of around-the-clock 24/7 monitoring & care, pain medication, and anti-inflammatories to ensure she heals properly and is not putting weight on the leg. Whew... this was a lot. No surgery required (yet), so that part is a blessing. Please help if you can, this has pretty much drained our accounts. Trying to recoup anything we can to get back on track. Thank you all for reading this, and we greatly appreciate any help you can provide!!!
