Urgent Aid for Moroccan Earthquake Survivors

Dear Friends-

As you are aware, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Morocco's High Atlas mountain region at 11:11 p.m. local time on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023 (followed by a 4.5 magnitude earthquake on Sept. 10). As of today, Sept. 11., the death toll is 2800+, and potentially thousands of others are missing.
In addition to this, tens of thousands of people found themselves homeless within seconds, and without not only their belongings but also an opportunity to earn a living in the immediate future at least. They have to navigate these extreme conditions, all while mourning the loss of their loved ones and dealing with the sadness that comes with knowing that their chances of finding those missing are less and less with each passing minute.
To add to this extraordinarily harsh reality, it has been very difficult to reach some of the more remote areas that have not been able to receive any or hardly any aid.
With the help of my sister Naoual Belaghzal and Karima Ettaqi, who live in the region, and have direct connection with the volunteers in remote areas of Amizmiz (a small town in approximately 55 kilometers south of Marrakesh) and Oneine, we are coordinating efforts to assist those in need.
HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED:
-Funds will be frequently sent to Morocco to keep up with the urgent needs
-Naoual and Karima will coordinate with local volunteers in the two villages
-The funds will be used for food, water, medical and hygiene supplies, tents, and other basic needs
-Regular updates with receipts will be posted to keep everyone posted on how things are going
WHAT CAN YOU DO
-Please DONATE! Any and all amounts count!
-Spread the word via social media, personal messages and emails to friends, family, coworkers, etc.
-Ask others to share the fundraiser information as well
In this hour of dire need, while the level of despair and sadness is understandably high, we ought to summon strength to do everything we can to help those who desperately need us. While we might not be able to respond to all the requests for help, little by little we can make a monumental impact in people’s lives during the worst of times.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance for your generosity!

With immense gratitude,
